Our companion dog classes teach the life skills your dog needs to thrive in your home and in public. From basic behaviors like sit, down, stay, and recall, to more advanced abilities aimed at off-leash control, these courses will strengthen the communication and relationship between handler and dog.

Family Manners 101

Family Manners 101

If your dog hasn’t had any formal training education yet, start with our Family Manners 101 class. We teach all the basic everyday skills that every good dog needs to know: from learning sit, stay, and down to walking on a loose leash and coming when called. Better yet, you’ll both have loads of fun while you learn together and build a stronger relationship!

Dogs can earn their AKC Star Puppy certificate or their CGC title at the end of class!

Family Manners 202

Family Manners 202

Family Manners 202 builds on what dogs learned in Family Manners 101 by testing their mastery of the basics while teaching them new skills for everyday life. In addition to more advanced recalls from farther distances, we work on having dogs go to their “place” as well as polite greetings with both people and other dogs. This class also introduces you and your dog to the exciting world of off-leash training!

Dogs can earn their Advanced CGC at the end of class!

Semester: 6 weeks
Tuition: $210 (Discounts given to Canine PhD students)
Prerequisites: Family Manners 101 or basic obedience equivalency

Adolescent Dog

Adolescent Dog

A dog’s adolescence is the time when everything starts to fall apart, unless you make a concerted effort to see it through to the stability of adulthood. Your dog’s adolescence is a critical time. If you ignore your dog’s education now, you will soon find yourself living with an ill-mannered, under-socialized, hyperactive animal. A partial list of skills covered:

  • Recalls
  • Leash walking
  • Relaxed down
  • Greetings people and dogs
  • Working in distractions
  • Focused attention

Ultimate Recall

Ultimate Recall

You will learn in 4 weeks how to train a reliable, automatic, non-negotiable, reality recall.
This class will cover:

  • Building block and foundation training of the recall
  • Relationship/influence building in recall training
  • The chasing recall
  • Sit and/or down on recall
  • Freeze/stop on recall/running wait
  • Distance/direction control
  • Calling dogs off of distractions
  • Out of sight recall (owner hidden)
  • Obedience/competition recall (dog is called from a stationary position)

Help your excitable and distracted dog focus on you. If your dog gets distracted by critters, noises, food, other dogs then this class will help you have a better behaved dog out in pubic. We play interactive games, relay races, and other fun activities.

Your dog will learn polite greetings, automatic sits, relaxed downs, focused attention, essential safety protocols, and good all-around public behavior – so you can go just about anywhere as pair!

Bully Breed Basics

No, the purpose of this class is not to rehabilitate dogs who act like bullies – it’s designed to address the specific training needs of “Bully” breeds. Boston and Staffordshire Terriers, Boxers, Bulldogs, Mastiffs, and Rottweilers all share certain physical and personality characteristics that make them somewhat unique. Learn how to channel your Bully’s natural athleticism, high intelligence, and other traits positively for better behavior.

Behind every happy Terrier owner is a healthy sense of humor. Seriously: Terriers are terribly smart and energetic, and their brains are hardwired to do stuff (like digging, chasing, and barking) that can drive otherwise sane people completely crazy. Learn how to direct those natural Terrier tendencies into fun and healthy activities by taking our Terrier Tamer class – so you can tame your terrier’s temper!
